Advanced Interventional Systems: The Irvine medical-laser developer posted a $1.5-million loss, or 17 cents per share, in the second quarter. That compared to a $1.6-million loss, or 23 cents per share, in the same period a year earlier. Sales grew about 50% to $2.1 million from $1.4 million. The company’s expenses have increased because of a larger sales force and clinical support staff. For the first six months of the year, the company posted a loss of $1.4 million, compared to a $3.1-million loss a year earlier. Revenue climbed to $7.1 million from $2.6 million.
