Diamond Bar : Septic-Tank Overflow Study

Share

The City Council has agreed to study a septic-tank overflow problem that has saturated yards and created downhill streams of waste in the hilly southwest portion of the city.

The problem affects several of the 148 houses using septic tanks.

The council voted 5 to 0 Tuesday to fund a $13,174 study to determine what type of sewage system should replace the septic tanks and how much that system would cost. The council also agreed to permit up to $5,000 in related expenses.

The council had agreed at its July 7 meeting to conduct the study and on Tuesday selected low-bidder Dwight French and Associates.

The study will estimate how much affected property owners should be taxed to pay for the new sewage system and the study itself.

Until it is reimbursed by residents, the city will pay for the study and other related costs with unallocated general fund money.
