Death in Venice: Brian De Palma’s new thriller “Raising Cain,” to be released by Universal Pictures on Aug. 7, has been selected to open the Venice Film Festival in September. The story of a child psychologist who becomes obsessed with his daughter, the quasi-comical murder mystery was produced by Gale Anne Hurd (“Aliens,” “Terminator 2”) and stars John Lithgow, Lolita Davidovich and Steven Bauer.
