I have the greatest admiration for Barbara Lewis and her accomplishments, her determination to make something of herself and of course, the brains to qualify for all that state and federal and university funding she received.

But this story tells us something about how our state is being run and has been run for too many years. When are we going to stop being the "Golden Egg" state? What with the mega-million-dollar debt, schools cutting down sports and educational programs, how many long-time California students have not been able to get all this free education? Here is another classic example where an out-of-state person took advantage of the "Golden Opportunity" in the Golden State.
