After a months-long national search, psychologist Judith A. Anderson has been named executive assistant to Cal State Fullerton President Milton A. Gordon.

Anderson, currently director of affirmative action at Eastern Illinois University, was chosen from among 160 candidates for the post. She was selected by the president from a list of three finalists.

As executive assistant, the 43-year-old clinical psychologist will handle a range of issues and act as Gordon’s representative on various campus committees.

“The executive assistant acts as the president’s right hand, helping him to function in the best way possible,” said philosophy professor Craig Ihara, a search committee member. “There are so many demands on the president that it is not humanly possible for him to do everything.”

Ihara said Anderson was a favorite of the search committee. “She’s an all-around person with so many different skills that are useful here,” he said.

Anderson will begin her duties on campus Aug. 24. Her annual salary will be $75,096.
