You think parents get to see their youngsters at the Olympics? Not a chance. Marge Diebel was waiting for her son, gold medalist Nelson, for nearly two hours after his race.
“NBC is all around him. I don’t know when he’ll get out,” she said as she stood in a dirt parking lot next to the Picorel Pool. “Once Nels gets talking, he’s hard to get to stop.”
