New Oldsmobile to Be Called Aurora: General Motors Corp. plans to name its next-generation luxury car the Aurora, replacing the Toronado name used since 1966, Ward’s Automotive Reports said. Oldsmobile said earlier this year that its Toronado, available in a two-door coupe model only and made at GM’s Detroit/Hamtramck plant, would be discontinued at the end of the 1992 model year. The Aurora will be a four-door sedan and debut in the 1994 model year. It will be made at GM’s plant in Orion Township, Mich.
