Med Network Expands Into 15 States

Share

Med Network, the preferred provider organization of Admar Corp., said Tuesday that it has added hospital and physician networks in 15 states.

Benetta Rapier, director of network operations for the Santa Ana-based managed health-care corporation, said the expansion is a “result of Admar’s desire to meet the needs of current clients, and is in keeping with its commitment toward the development of a national managed care system.”

Preferred provider organizations, known as PPOs, are similar to health-maintenance organizations except that PPO patients have more flexibility in choosing physicians.

Rapier said that the expansion, which adds 565 hospitals and 18,604 physicians to the network, could generate $2 million in revenue over the next year for Admar.

Med Network’s new contracts are in Arkansas, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Mississippi, Ohio, Oregon, Washington and West Virginia. The provider also added contracts in Pennsylvania, Virginia and Wisconsin, states where the Med Network already has a presence.

With the new contracts, Med Network now has 760 contracted hospitals, 22,014 primary-care physicians and 30,683 physician specialists.
