Infant Left at Bus Stop; Mother Arrested
A 1-week-old girl in a carrier was found at a bus stop Tuesday and her 20-year-old mother was arrested several hours later on suspicion of abandoning her child, police said.
The baby, who had extra diapers and full bottles with her in the carrier, was found at 11:40 a.m. at Harbor Boulevard and Fair Drive, Officer Holly Carver said.
She was taken to the Orangewood Children’s Home in Orange.
Several hours later, Lucilla Garcia of Costa Mesa reported to authorities that her baby had been kidnaped, Carver said. After talking with her, investigators arrested her.
Garcia was released on her own recognizance, Carver said.
