Compton : Two Business Centers Open to Assist Rebuilding Efforts

Share

Two new centers designed to help small businesses start or rebuild after the recent riots opened in Compton this week.

The Neighborhood Opportunity Center is a project of the President’s Task Force on Los Angeles Recovery. Located in the Martin Luther King Jr. Transit Center, it will aid business development, city officials said. The federal center has no funds for administrative help, however, and officials are unsure how day-to-day operations will be conducted.

A few miles away, Compton Community College held a ceremony Monday to open its business aid center. The Small Business Outreach Center is backed by Gov. Pete Wilson’s Los Angeles Revitalization Committee. It will offer business counseling, seminars and financial planning.
