Frank W. Crane, 77, an advertising and radio executive, former president of the Southern California Broadcasters Assn. and a campaign director for the March of Dimes. Crane was managing director of the Advertising Club of Los Angeles in the early 1950s. He was named March of Dimes campaign director for the Los Angeles area in 1949. That was the year he was promoter of the Freedom Train, a traveling museum carrying such documents as drafts of the Bill of Rights and Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address. The train wended through 132 cities and at the invitation of President Harry S. Truman was in Washington when he was inaugurated for his first full term in January, 1949.
