OXNARD : Police Search for Suspect in Stabbing
Police were searching Friday for an Oxnard man suspected of stabbing another man in the heart after the victim tried to protect his girlfriend from the assailant.
Louie Ramos Gutierrez, 25, is suspected of stabbing Allen Obiols, 27, once in the chest at 11 p.m. Wednesday after confronting Obiols’ girlfriend on Wolff Street, Oxnard police said.
Obiols was taken to St. John’s Regional Medical Center in Oxnard, where he underwent surgery. The Oxnard man was listed in fair condition in the hospital’s coronary care unit on Friday.
His girlfriend was not hurt in the incident, Oxnard Police Detective Daniel Christian said.
“The suspect started pushing her around, and Obiols came to her defense,” Christian said. Obiols pushed the assailant away from the woman, and the man stabbed him, Christian said. “It was a very quick fight.”
