FAMILY DAY: The county Department of Parks and Recreation is sponsoring its second annual Community Family Day with a carnival and entertainment at City Terrace County Park in East Los Angeles today from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
ANIMAL FOLK TALES: A performance by the Magical Moonshine Theatre; Southwest Museum, 234 Museum Drive, Highland Park; 2 p.m. today ($10).
FORESTS: Program on “Old Growth Forests: Our Heritage on the Chopping Block?”; Pasadena Group of the Sierra Club; Eaton Canyon Nature Center, 1750 N. Altadena Drive, Pasadena; 7:30 p.m. Wednesday (free).
POLICE BENEFIT: Los Angeles Police Chief Willie L. Williams is the featured guest; sponsored by the Los Angeles Police Historical Society; Stadium Club, Dodger Stadium, 1000 Elysian Park Ave., Los Angeles; 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Thursday; reservations (213) 344-9445 ($150).

CITIZENSHIP WORKSHOP: The National Assn. of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials (NALEO) will hold a citizenship workshop in which permanent legal residents can apply for naturalization at 8:30 a.m. Saturday at Santa Rosa Church, 668 South Workman St., San Fernando. NALEO charges a $20 fee for photographs, fingerprints and assistance with forms. Volunteers are being sought to help applicants. For information, call (800) 34-NALEO.
