Controversy Over Agency’s Suit Against Toll Road Foes
I appreciated your editorial on the tactics the Transportation Corridor Agency (TCA) has taken by suing the four environmental groups. Have our First Amendment rights been repealed in Orange County? Something is seriously wrong if this is how people scrutinizing public agencies are treated. Is this now the American way? What’s next? Declare public participation unconstitutional?
Citizens beware, a dangerous precedent is about to be set if the lawsuit filed by the TCA against local environmental groups and a private citizen is allowed to proceed. Wake up folks! This suit will indeed bring a chilling effect on citizens seeking to express their concerns on government projects and who have dared to participate in the government process.
