Two Southland Architects Win National AIA Offices
Southland architects Chester A. Widom and Betsey Olenick Dougherty, were elected to national offices of the American Institute of Architects at its 124th national convention in Boston.
Widom, who will serve a two-year term as national vice president, is the founding partner of the Santa Monica firm of Widom Wein Cohen. He is founder and past president of Alternative Living for the Aging, president of the Los Angeles Headquarters City Assn., and a member of the Los Angeles Planning Commission Task Force.
Dougherty, the new AIA secretary, is a partner with her husband in the Newport Beach firm of Dougherty & Dougherty. A former regional AIA director from California, she has served on the Secretary’s Advisory Committee, Commission on the Public, the Practice Commission and was also a member of the Federal Agency Liaison Consulting Group.
