PANORAMA CITY : New Operators to Reopen Hospital

Share

Panorama Community Hospital, which closed in January, is scheduled to reopen in October under new management that pledges to rebuild the facility’s former ties to the central San Fernando Valley.

The 96-bed Panorama City hospital will be operated by San Fernando Community Hospital Inc., a nonprofit company that also operates San Fernando Community Hospital, a full-service hospital with 69 beds.

Panorama Community was formerly operated by United Health Services, which closed it because of losses, said David Gustafson, its former chief executive officer. He now is working with San Fernando Community to reopen the hospital.

David Green, CEO at San Fernando Community, said he believes the Panorama City facility can support itself.

Green said he hopes to change the image of the hospital from that of an arm of a large national health care provider oriented to the bottom line.

“We want to bring back the homey atmosphere in health care,” he said.

Green said he expects the facility to reopen on Oct. 1, with more than $1 million in new equipment.
