Easy Identification

Share

A couple of weeks ago, having just cleared customs in the Toronto airport, I was sitting, reading The Times while awaiting a plane to Halifax. A man in the uniform of a customs official stood before me and asked my name.

I told him and he handed me my travelers checks saying, “You dropped these in customs.” After expressing my gratitude I asked how he had identified me in a crowded waiting room.

“Well,” he said, “it was quite obvious. Flight 790 just arrived from Los Angeles and there you were in the Halifax waiting room reading the Los Angeles Times.”
