Countywide : Water Board Raises Annexation Fees
- Share via
Directors of the largest water supplier in Ventura County on Wednesday decided to increase fees for landowners who want to tap into pipelines that carry imported water into the county.
The Calleguas Municipal Water District board members unanimously adopted a 30% increase that will raise annexation fees from $832 to $1,086 per acre. The fees are effective immediately. General Manager Donald Kendall said the agency serves water users on 225,786 acres and owns nearly $274 million worth of facilities.
Four landowners who combined own 165 acres have requested to become part of the district’s service area, Calleguas attorney Tom Anderle said.
Anderle said the district has not raised its annexation fee since 1990, when it adjusted fees from $739 to $832 an acre. Calleguas is the largest supplier of imported water in the county.
It provides water to nearly 500,000 residents who live in the cities of Camarillo, Moorpark, Oxnard, Simi Valley and Thousand Oaks.
