Goaltender Jeff Hackett elected to forgo free agency and sign a new contract with the San Jose Sharks. Financial terms of the agreement have not been reached.
Hackett, 24, was voted the Sharks’ most valuable player last season, going 11-27-1 with a 3.84 goals-against average.
