ADVENT SEMINAR: Vallejo Drive Seventh-day Adventist Church...

ADVENT SEMINAR: Vallejo Drive Seventh-day Adventist Church will present an advent seminar featuring Samuele Bacchiocchi, a professor of church history and theology at Andrews University and the first non-Catholic to graduate from the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome. The seminar will begin on Friday at 7:30 p.m. with Bacchiocchi addressing the topic, “The Certainty of the Advent.” The seminar will continue on Saturday with a 10:45 a.m. session on the topic “Living the Advent Hope” followed by a 6:30 p.m. session on the topic “The Imminence of the Advent.” There is no charge for the seminar and all three sessions will be held at the church located at 300 Vallejo Drive in Glendale.

SPECIAL SHABBAT: A special Saturday Shabbat service, titled “Jewz N The Hood,” is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Aug. 22 at Temple Ahavat Shalom, 18200 Rinaldi Place, in Northridge. Rabbi Fred Krinsky of Pomona College will lead a dialogue on the impact of the past decade on American Jews. The service will also include a discussion of the prayers and choreography of the service. A continental breakfast and lunch will be served. The cost is $10 and reservations should be made by Aug. 15 by calling the synagogue at (818) 360-2258.
