6-Year-Old Shoots His Brother, 9, in an Apparent Dare

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A 6-year-old boy shot and wounded an older brother in the head after the brother apparently dared him to do so, authorities said.
Michael Morrison climbed to the top of his parents’ closet Thursday and removed an empty .38-caliber gun and bullets from an unlocked metal box, a third brother said. Their parents were not at home at the time. Michael loaded the weapon and fired a shot at 9-year-old John, who was struck in the back of the head.
“I think my other brother, John, dared him (Michael) to shoot him, and I guess he carried out the dare,” 14-year-old Walt Morrison said in an interview.
John was taken to University Medical Center, where he was listed in fair condition Friday.
