Silent ‘Times’: Larry Josephson’s radio talk show “Modern Times” is off the air at KCRW-FM (89.9), but explanations as to why differ. The station’s general manager, Ruth Hirschman, said Josephson quit producing the show, carried on about 15 public radio stations, because he didn’t receive the necessary grant money from the National Endowment for the Arts to sustain its $40,000 yearly production. However, Josephson said he was fired over a disagreement about vacation time. Hirschman had previously fired and rehired Josephson in 1989. Josephson said his show will resume on KIEV-AM (870) Aug. 22 at 6:30 p.m.
