Acquisition of Polymicro: Advanced Interventional Systems Inc. said Thursday that it has acquired Polymicro Technologies Inc. for cash and stock valued at more than $2 million. The Irvine company, which manufactures a laser system to treat heart disease, said that the acquisition will assure it a supply of optical fibers that are used with the lasers. Polymicro manufactures the fibers, which are inserted into catheters to transmit the laser beam. Advanced Interventional issued 400,000 common shares and paid $1.05 million to the shareholders of Polymicro.
