Shopping at the Rose
Well, the Oxnard City Council has voted as predicted, 5 to 0, in favor of “Shopping at the Rose.” Two weeks before the so-called public hearing, people were telling me that the decision was already made and that voters would not, and could not, have an effect on the outcome. I just could not believe that this would be the case. I was wrong. After I witnessed the charade that was supposed to be a public hearing, I can now understand why people don’t get involved. When the fix is in, why waste your time trying to make our city a better place to live? The only thing that talks at council meetings is developer money.
