VALLEYWIDE : Rocketdyne Donates $40,000 to Groups
Rocketdyne officials handed out $40,000 in donations Monday to 25 organizations from the San Fernando Valley and nearby regions at its annual “Good Neighbor” breakfast.
“It was our chance to talk to organizations around,” said Rocketdyne spokeswoman Kristy Varnes. “It was a good way to get together after the L.A. riots and become a neighborhood again.”
Rocketdyne gives about $200,000 a year to selected organizations, said Jeff Charney, Rocketdyne’s director of communications.
Among those receiving funds Monday were the Canoga Park Community Center Foundation, the Mid-Valley YMCA and Cal State Northridge.
Rocketdyne, based in Canoga Park, employs more than 6,000 people in making propulsion systems used by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration and other customers.
