CANYON COUNTRY : Bone Fragments Were Not Human

Bone fragments discovered in Canyon Country by searchers looking for a Valencia woman who has been missing for 16 months have been identified as non-human, a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department spokesman said Monday.

More than a dozen searchers, including two psychics, spent four hours Saturday in rugged terrain off Spring Canyon Road looking for the body of Ann Racz, who disappeared April 22, 1991. The search turned up clothing and bones that investigators now say are unrelated to the case.

Racz, then 42, disappeared four days after she and her three children moved out of the Valencia home they shared with her husband and into a condominium a mile away. She was seeking a divorce from 44-year-old John Racz, a former Sheriff’s Department sergeant, after 19 years of marriage.
