This Street Needs Repair

Share

I live on a street that is in extremely bad condition and has not been repaired since its installation in the early 1940s.

My neighborhood has tried for over five years to get the city to do something about repairing the street, including contacting our councilman, to no avail.

The city is currently resurfacing streets in Sherman Oaks that do not need repair. We’d be happy if our street was as good as those that the city is ripping out.

When questioned, the city Department of Street Maintenance said they resurface streets based on a time schedule, not on whether the street needs repair. It was also suggested, unofficially, that we don’t have enough influential people living on our street.

How long must taxpayers put up with this kind of mentality?
