ORANGE TUB: Naval buffs take note: There was once a ship called the Orange County. It was a tank landing ship, the kind John Wayne used to storm the sands of Iwo Jima. The Orange County sailed the Pacific at the end of World War II and saw Korean War service. Actually it made it to Iwo Jima too, nine years after the war. The ship was finally sunk as a target in 1958. . . . And yes, it was named after this Orange County. But it was also named after the same county in seven other states.
