Cal Poly Pomona President Bob H. Suzuki has been appointed to a Division II position on the NCAA President’s Commission and will serve in that capacity until 1995.

The commission, which serves as an advisory board to the NCAA, includes 44 members, including 22 Division I representatives, 11 Division II representatives and 11 Division III representatives.

Suzuki became president of Cal Poly Pomona in May, 1991.

A double-elimination three-on-three basketball tournament will be held Saturday in front of Pasadena City Hall.

The event, co-sponsored by the Pasadena Junior Chamber of Commerce and Kaiser Permanente, features a format that pairs players based on age, skill and experience.

The event also includes a clinic sponsored by the Clippers and free throw, three-point and slam dunk contests.

A grass-court volleyball tournament sponsored by Bonita High will be held Aug. 29 at the La Verne school.

The tournament features competition in men’s A and B doubles, women’s B doubles and co-ed B doubles.

The city of Duarte is sponsoring a benefit golf tournament in recognition of the city’s 35th anniversary of incorporation.

The event will be Sept. 19 at the Rancho Duarte course and will feature a four-person scramble format.

The entry fee is $30, which includes 18 holes of golf, awards, prizes and refreshments. Registration is due Sept. 11.
