West Los Angeles : Westwood Park Annexation
The Los Angeles City Planning Commission has approved a plan to annex Westwood Park to the City of Los Angeles.
The park, which is administered by the city, is on unincorporated county land.
If the annexation is approved, the Los Angeles Police Department will handle law enforcement in the park. Currently, crime victims in the park must turn to the Sheriff’s Department, whose nearest station is in West Hollywood.
The proposal was started by City Councilman Zev Yaroslavsky and endorsed by City Councilwoman Ruth Galanter. The park was within the boundaries of Yaroslavsky’s district before the recent redistricting and will be in Galanter’s district if the annexation is approved by the City Council and by county authorities.
