Pop Album Chart : ‘Dog’ Has Its Day

Share

The re-release of “Temple of the Dog” has been, as expected, a big hit. The album jumped into Billboard magazine’s pop album chart at No. 7. It’s a tribute album to the late Andrew Wood of Mother Love Bone, by a one-time-only unit made up of members of Soundgarden and Pearl Jam. Since the album was originally released in April, 1991, to critical acclaim but low sales, these bands have become hot. Both Pearl Jam and Soundgarden are on the big Lollapalooza tour. Boyz II Men’s “End of the Road” is still the top pop single.

* This pop-metal band, featuring Ted Nugent, scored a surprise hit with its first album and built a large following through touring. Its second album is off to flying start, landing at No. 22.
