Child Critically Hurt in Fall off Balcony
A 15-month-old boy was in critical condition after falling from the second-story balcony of an apartment building Thursday evening.
The child, Anthony Rios, crawled onto furniture that was being stored on the balcony of the apartment, then fell 14 feet to concrete below, Police Lt. Earl Porter said.
Neighbor Lorena Lopez said, “We heard the mother screaming and we saw the little boy on the ground.” The child briefly regained consciousness and said “mommy.”
Paramedics were called to the complex at 1515 N. Spurgeon St. at 6 p.m. and took the child to Western Medical Center-Santa Ana where he was listed in critical condition with severe head injuries.
