226 Pounds Seized in 2 Cocaine Busts
Inspectors confiscated 226 pounds of cocaine from two Cadillacs at the San Ysidro Port of Entry with the help of drug-sniffing dogs.
The street value of the cocaine was estimated at more than $2.2 million, said Rudy Murillo, spokesman for the Immigration and Naturalization Service.
The first Cadillac came through at 7:50 a.m. Saturday. After the car was escorted to secondary inspection, an INS dog trained to find drugs found a hidden compartment in the trunk holding 121 pounds of cocaine in individual packages, Murillo said.
Later that morning, another Cadillac, holding 105 pounds of cocaine, was searched by a U.S. Customs Service dog, Murillo said.
