Exercising Her Rights: Jane Fonda has spoken. In an interview with the Associated Press this week, Fonda, who has hinted before that she was no longer interested in film roles, made it clear that she has left acting to devote herself to husband Ted Turner and to her fitness business. “I won’t be in movies anymore. I walked away with nary a glance back,” said the two-time Oscar winner. “I did it for 30 years. It never occurred to me that I could walk away from a career and not miss it.” Fonda could not be reached for further comment Wednesday, but her longtime friend and former agent Paula Weinstein told The Times that Fonda is “incredibly happy, leading an extraordinary life. But Jane is not someone for whom life has had only one channel. Speaking as a fan, I hope that at some point whenever she feels like it, she’ll be tempted to make a movie.” Fonda said in the wire service interview that she remains politically active but takes a lower profile than before her marriage to Turner.
