Whittier : Trolley-Style Buses Pass Safety Check on 2nd Try
The contractor that maintains Whittier’s trolley-style buses has passed a follow-up safety inspection, easing city concerns over previous safety violations.
Transit contractor ATE/Ryder earned a satisfactory rating for safety and maintenance as a result of a surprise Aug. 19 inspection by the California Highway Patrol. The CHP made a similar inspection on June 25, resulting in a report that said the year-old buses were unsafe because basic mechanical repairs were not being made, and maintenance problems were not being reported.
