Olapade Adeniken of Nigeria beat Olympic 100-meter champion Linford Christie for the second time since the Barcelona Games, winning in 10.18 seconds at a meet in Koblenz, Germany. Colin Jackson of Britain scored his fifth consecutive post-Olympic victory, winning the 110-meter hurdles in a relatively slow 13.17, and Merlene Ottey of Jamaica, the Olympic bronze medalist at 200 meters, won the women’s 100 in 11.21 seconds.
