Culver City : Arts Panel Needs Members
Four people with a background in the arts are needed to fill vacancies on the seven-member Culver City Arts Committee, which oversees the city’s Arts in Public Places Program.
The committee is responsible for approving artwork for commercial development projects. By law, developers must contribute 1% of project costs to the program. The committee also recommends to the City Council the purchase or commission of artwork for public places.
Committee members are appointed by the council. One of the seats will be filled by a representative with a background in art appreciation or art. Two are set aside for “artist representatives,” a category that includes artists, art teachers and curators. The fourth seat is to be filled by an architect experienced in building design.
Artists and art patron members must be Culver City residents. Meetings are at 5 p.m. on the third Thursday of the month.
For information, call (310) 202-5775. Applications are due Sept. 14, and selections will be made in October.
