OUTLOOK

Sunderland and Willmer are the only remaining starters from Sunny Hills’ 1990 Division VI championship team. Sunderland moves to quarterback, where Devaney said he expects him “to have a good or very good season.” Devaney says the Lancers will have to depend on a passing game to win, adding, “We won’t be able to outrun anybody.” Sunny Hills’ ground game could get a boost if the hardship case of former Whittier Christian star Jacob Cuccia is approved by Southern Section officials. Cuccia, who gained 1,292 yards in only eight games for Whittier Christian, hopes to transfer to Sunny Hills. Sunny Hills will travel to Edmonton, Canada, to play Ross Shephard in the third week of the season. The Lancers have previously traveled to Edmonton (1989) and Hawaii (1984). Sunny Hills failed to win the league title for only the fifth time in the past 12 years last season.
