The Ventura County Community College District board of trustees voted Monday to accept a federal grant that would allow Moorpark College students to make a videotape about preventing sexual harassment.

The $14,876 grant, funded under the Federal Vocational and Educational Act, will pay for producing a 20-minute videotape designed to educate students and faculty about sexual harassment issues, Moorpark College President James Walker said.

The videotape will be shown in classes and will probably be made part of class projects during the spring semester, Walker said.

“I’m glad to see it,” said board President Pete Tafoya. “I’m very pleased to see that one of our colleges has taken a lead on this issue.”

Tafoya said he wants instructors and all other employees at Oxnard, Moorpark and Ventura colleges to attend mandatory classes on preventing sexual harassment.
