Dystrophy Telethon

Share

I am writing to encourage support for the Jerry Lewis Muscular Dystrophy Assn. Labor Day Telethon, which will air on KTLA Channel 5 Sunday at 8 p.m. through Monday at 5 p.m.

I am 23 years old and was born with spinal muscular atrophy. I have been using a wheelchair since I was about in the third grade. I am also a member of the Muscular Dystrophy Assn. Task Force on Public Awareness.

MDA has significantly helped my family to purchase my wheelchairs and other medical equipment through the years. MDA will soon be providing me with a whole new improved seating system that will help me to sit up straighter, breathe easier and sit more comfortably during the many hours I spend in my wheelchair. And because of MDA’s neurological clinics set up throughout the area, I am able to see doctors who know how to treat my special needs.

But MDA has done more--it has given me hope.
