Lucero Wins Scratch Main Event, Earns a Berth in U.S. Nationals

Steve Lucero of Riverside won the four-lap scratch main event at the weekly speedway motorcycle program at the Orange County Fairgrounds Friday night and assured himself a spot in the U.S. Nationals.

Rob Pfetzing of Orange was second, Chris Manchester of Hesperia third and Mike Faria of Downey fourth in front of 5,126 at the Fairgrounds.

Andy Northrup of Ontario won the four-lap consolation main. Brad Oxley of San Juan Capistrano was second, Louis Kossuth of Diamond Bar third and John Aden of Hesperia fourth.

The Nationals will be held Oct. 3 on the Fairgrounds’ track.
