Here’s a selective look at other fall programming for young viewers:
WEEKDAYS
“Batman: The Animated Series” NEW
Mondays-Fridays 4:30 p.m. KTTV; 5 p.m. XETV
The Dark Knight is joined by Robin, Alfred, Police Commissioner Gordon and fights familiar bad guys and some new ones. The show features a film noir/ Art Deco design, which Fox representatives say has never been seen in television animation. Premieres Monday.
KTTV also airs Merrie Melodies at 3 p.m. (2:30 XETV), Tom and Jerry at 3:30 p.m. (3 p.m. XETV) and Steven Spielberg’s Tiny Toon Adventures at 4 p.m., beginning Sept. 14 (4:30 p.m. XETV).
“The Adventures of T-Rex” NEW
Mondays-Fridays 8:30 a.m. KCOP; 3 p.m. KUSI
This is a new series set in Rep City, the megalopolis of an Art Deco dinosaur world. T-Rex is the secret identity of “The Brothers,” five young dinosaur siblings who headline at a cabaret, but go undercover to fight an evil corporation. Premieres Sept. 14 .

“Behind the Scenes” NEW
Sundays 5:30 p.m. KCET; Sundays 10:30 a.m. KPBS; Saturday 7:30 p.m. KVCR
The magician team of Penn and Teller explores creativity and creative thinking in a 10-part weekly series for ages 8 to 12. Special premiere Tuesday at 8:30 p.m.
“Ghostwriter” NEW
Sundays 6 p.m. KCET and KPBS; Fridays 4:30 p.m. KVCR
PBS says this series is designed to make reading and writing exciting and relevant to kids. Premieres week of Oct. 4.
“Storytime” NEW
Sundays 7 p.m. KCET
This KCET weekly series is designed to encourage children and parents to read at home. Premieres Oct. 11 .
Cable
“News for Kids” NEW
Saturdays 6:05 a.m. TBS; 6:30 a.m. KNSD; 7 a.m. KTLA
This half-hour program highlights the week’s news geared especially for children. Premieres Sept. 26 (Sept. 27 on TBS).
