President Bush will visit San Diego on Sunday as part of a three-day Western campaign swing that will take him through the Rockies and Pacific Northwest, Republican Party sources said Tuesday.

The President, who is also scheduled to make stops in San Jose and Orange County earlier in the day, is expected to stay overnight in San Diego.

GOP sources say Bush is likely to use the visit to emphasize an environmental issue.

Bush last made a campaign appearance in San Diego in February, when he visited local health clinics. He also visited on July 14 to attend the Baseball All-Star Game July 14 and meet with Mexican President Carlos Salinas de Gortari to discuss the North American Free Trade Agreement.
