SANTA CLARITA : College District OKs Tentative Budget
The Santa Clarita Community College District Board of Trustees has approved a tentative budget that anticipates no growth in 1992-93.
The $15.1-million budget, adopted Wednesday night, is about $900,000 more than last year’s spending plan and allows only for inflation, said Linda Cubbage, board president.
“We did just the basics,” she said.
Cubbage said it is still unclear exactly how much the district will receive under the state budget approved Aug. 31. “It all needs clarification,” Cubbage said. “The board will have to take another look at it if we get less money.”
In that case, she said, the district will have to consider eliminating classes for the spring semester, which it did not do in the fall.
“We’re certainly turning students away right and left,” Cubbage said.
The $15.1-million budget does not include funds earmarked for special programs or construction already approved.
The district, which had been one of the fastest-growing in the state, has an enrollment of about 6,300 students.
