ANTELOPE VALLEY : High School District Cuts More Workers
The financially troubled Antelope Valley Union High School District has laid off five more employees, bringing to 106 the number who have lost jobs in recent months as part of a fiscal recovery plan.
By a 3-2 vote, trustees decided Wednesday to eliminate five school site managers, responsible for managing day-to-day repairs and maintenance in the 11,500-student district.
Trustees have been grappling in recent months with a projected $13-million budget shortfall that caught them by surprise in January.
