King Wins Speedway Scratch Main Event

COSTA MESA — Lance King of Huntington Beach won the four-lap scratch main event of the weekly speedway motorcycle racing program in front of 3,023 at the Orange County Fairgrounds.

Steve Lucero of Riverside finished second, Mike Faria of Downey finished third and Andy Northrup of Ontario finished fourth.

In the eight-lap handicap main, Jes Ochoa of Corona won with Brad Oxley of San Juan Capistrano finishing second. Shawn O’Connell of Brea finished third and Faria fourth.

Angela Hale, 15, of Elsinore crashed in the junior main race, forcing a restart. Hale won the restarted race and then went to the hospital with a minor laceration on her knee.
