Trainer Neil Drysdale has not only left Del Mar in search of a winner, he has left the country.

But Drysdale, unsuccessful with the 16 starters he has had here, might return to the winner’s circle in a big way if A.P. Indy returns to form in the Molson Export Million on Sunday at Woodbine. First place is worth $600,000 in the 1 1/8-mile race at the suburban Toronto track.

A.P. Indy, who has not run since extending his winning streak to seven races in the Belmont Stakes on June 6, has six horses to beat. The most dangerous is Alydeed, who despite an erratic career has shown one consistency--the ability to win at Woodbine. He is undefeated in four starts over the Canadian track and worked five furlongs there Wednesday in a fast :58 4/5.

A.P. Indy is the 6-5 favorite. Technology, the second morning-line choice at 5-2, drew the rail and will be ridden by Jerry Bailey. Outside them, in order, are A.P. Indy, with Eddie Delahoussaye; Elated Guy, Sandy Hawley, 20-1; Alydeed, Craig Perret, 3-1; Vying Victor, Robin Platts, 6-1; Benburb, Larry Attard, 12-1; and Steady Rise, Todd Kabel, 30-1. Weights, based on races the horses have won, call for A.P. Indy and Technology to carry 126 pounds apiece. Alydeed will carry 121 pounds, Elated Guy 117 and the rest 119.

A.P. Indy, winner of the Santa Anita Derby before being scratched the morning of the Kentucky Derby, also skipped the Preakness and has been idle since the Belmont to allow a cracked hoof to grow back.

Dance Floor, who was scheduled to run in the Molson Million, came out of a workout at Belmont Park on Wednesday with an injured right foreleg and his trip to Canada was canceled.

Pat Valenzeula, who would have ridden Dance Floor, will remain at Del Mar to ride Repriced in Sunday’s $200,000 Budweiser Breeders’ Cup Handicap, a mile race on dirt.

Ten horses are entered, including Blacksburg, who has won twice on grass here. A 3-year-old, Blacksburg gets a break in the weights and will carry only 112 pounds, seven less than the high weight, Ibero.

Here is the field, in post-position order: Sir Beaufort, Regal Groom, Reign Road, Ibero, Charmonnier, Letthebighossroll, Bucking Bird, Repriced, Compelling Sound and Blacksburg.
