Season’s Greetings: An extremely rare example of the first Disney studio Christmas card issued in 1931, signed by Walt Disney, sold for $11,660--three times its pre-sale estimate of $3,000 to $4,000 at an auction of animation art and Disneyana conducted by dealer Howard Lowery at the Disneyland Hotel in Anaheim on Sunday afternoon. Other notable items sold included an elongated portrait from the Haunted Mansion at Disneyland, which brought $4,840, and one of the original architect’s blueprints for Sleeping Beauty’s Castle, which went for $3,960.
