Decency

There is a haunting sound coming from this election. It’s not the greedy shouts for more tax cuts or the bigoted declarations against homosexuals. It’s more subtle than the cries of poor children going without the things children should have and meeker than the profound disappointment of mentally disabled people losing the jobs that have given their life much meaning. It is barely audible beneath an economy groaning, too old and tired to become reborn beyond military production. It is the silent anguished sound of a country losing its soul.
Demand human decency from politicians, not selfish tax breaks. Do the right thing. It’s not too late.
