Nation’s Average Gas Prices Rise: The national average price of self-serve regular unleaded gasoline rose 0.9 cent per gallon this week to $1.161, the American Automobile Assn. said. AAA’s fuel gauge report showed prices were higher in the mid-Atlantic, Great Lakes, Midwest and Southeast but lower in other regions. The national average price of self-serve mid-grade unleaded rose 1 cent per gallon to $1.256, while the premium unleaded average was 1.1 cents higher at $1.343. The survey, based on a nationwide spot check of gasoline stations, was conducted for AAA by Computer Petroleum Corp. of St. Paul, Minn.
